Quilt On Frame

The Folk Star quilt is finally on the quilting frame. The frame is one that my hubby built for me many, many years ago, and I love it. It has crayon marks from my kids when they were young and dog teeth marks on the lower legs from when my doggies were teething. It actually looks funny with so much history on it, but it's still very sturdy. I will start the quilting process today as yesterday I was pretty wiped out from the basting. I do all my quilting in the living room since it's the room with the most light and I like looking outside towards the street. Some blocks have some waves that bother the heck out of me but I was in no frame of mind to do them over, I know I will manage to quilt them out. Hubby and son had to roll it on to the frame three times before I was certain it was straight. Yesterday, hubby and I did go into Houston to one of my favorite little shops, Lucia's Garden, she has the best stuff, stuff you can't find at the mall or anywhere else. I bought a CD, wind chime, patchouli plant, and some herbs. Will have to go back for the Christmas open house in November. Oh, I temporarily covered the cushion to the bench/chest my hubby made for me, that will have to do until I make a cover for it. Now, to my quilting.

How fun to have a quilt in your frame ready for some serious handwork. It will be nice to come home from your job at the school and relax while quilting on your stars. I love to have a quilt in the frame during winter months.

wonderful to have the prep work done for quilting... you'll no doubt enjoy many hours of sitting there :-)

I love the smell of patchouli. Does the plant smell as good as the incense?
Good that you have the star quilt on the frame. Now you are ready to quilt!

Well there you go! I think that is a big accomplishment getting that top all squared on the frame.

Cheers!

Seeing your quilt on the frame has me itching to do some handquilting! I need to get something basted and ready on hand for the winter months.

I'll have to check out Lucia's Garden next time I'm in Houston.

Makes me want to do some hand quilting. I've got one on the frame today too but I'm machine quilting it!

Hi Esteemarlu oh your star quilt is just beautiful! I was wondering if you could help me a bit..maybe set me in the right direction, I want to learn to quilt so badly, I can't afford classes ..All I want is to learn how to make a small simple 9 patch quilt
How did you learn to quilt? Can a person learn this art by themselves with out having to go to classes,If I could afford it I
would..But I just can't at this time..But still would like to learn
Thank You Esteemarlu so much for any help
Hugs Sherrie

The quilt looks great on the frame! I envy you the quilting of it. I love to sit and hand quilt, but no space for anything very large - which is why I've gone overboard on crazy quilting. =)

I love the story of your frame, too. That's a nice family memory.
