Baby Heart Quilt Top

I have finally finished the baby heart quilt top I started three years ago. It's actually wider than it looks. I was hoping it would be wider than a crib size but than it would have been too square. I guess it's a good size. I can't wait to start quilting it. I would appreciate any quilting design suggestions. I am hand quilting it so I can't really do a meandering design. I really had a great time appliqueing the various blocks. The border had to be pieced because it was not enough fabric and I really wanted that certain fabric for the border. I don't think you can even tell though, but having to piece a border from the same fabric really bugs the heck out of me. But it's all pieced so it really shouldn't matter. HA!

Nice job, it looks great. Can't help with the quilting design as I usually have trouble deciding on that part, too!

If nothing else suggests itself to you there is always the traditional standby of cross-hatching.

It looks wonderful. I know it will be fun to quilt. What about something traditional like Baptist Fans? That quilt seems to me to want some curved quilting.

Hi! Your question came through to Spiral as 'no-reply' so I'll answer here :)

I use Heat-n-Bond Lite for my fused projects. Fusibles do stiffen the fabric somewhat, but I cut out the center of the shape after I draw it onto the fusible paper. So a circle becomes a donut before I iron it, etc. Then the gluey stuff is only around the edges of the shape, not behind the whole area. Hope this is making sense!

I'm with Paula---crosshatching would be classic. Good for you completing the top!

What a sweet quilt and either cross-hatching or Baptist Fans would like lovely. Don't worry about the pieced border as you won't notice it once all the quilting is done.
